Ginger Foot Bath
.......................................................

Anyone who has read or learned about ginger knows that there are many uses for it and many claims to its healing abilities. It is one of my mainstays for colds and I love using it in cooking and foot baths.

For the ginger foot bath you can use fresh ginger or ginger tea bags. The tea bags make for quick clean up especially if you use an electronic bubbling foot bath instead of just a bucket.

Have enough hot water (at a temperature that you like but will not burn you) to cover the tops of the feet. Add one tea bag or about two or three inches of chopped fresh ginger root. Place feet in water and enjoy soaking them for 8 to ten minutes. Then dry off your feet, apply lotion and/or foot massage and cover with clean socks.

Mmmm feels great!

 Note:
You could also use salt instead of ginger. My friend has some nice bath salts you can get. jinglesocksandmore.blogspot.com

The Foot Massage
.........................................................

Self massage for the foot

1- After a nice foot bath or just washing you feet, sit down where you will be comfortable and able to put you foot up into your lap.
2- With or without lotion apply general pressure all over the bottom of the foot. You can squeeze with both hands or use thumbs or fingers to apply point pressure. You want to feel a firm pressure, but not so much that it hurts. Some areas will be sore. Take note of them so that you can come back to them and work them more thoroughly.
3- Next you can use stroking motions or thumb/finger circles for a second pass of the foot, don't forget the top of the foot and the toes.
4- Work the sore area a little more slowly and thoroughly now. These are the areas that need to have the kinks worked out.
5- When you are done move on to the second foot. Spend five to 10 minutes on
each foot.
6- Put on some socks or slippers when you are done and go ahead and put up your feet for 10 minutes.

Notes
..........................................................

1-
The foot has 12 different muscles. The muscles are designed to support the weight of the body, and provide a movable platform on almost any surface. Having your feet massaged may help you relax, and may improve blood flow to your feet. Tender areas, or areas where muscles are tight or cramping may feel better after being massaged.

Having good posture helps us have a happy body.

A poem for this chapter
..........................................................

My Body

Thank you God for this body.
For the things it can feel -
The things it can sense.
Thank you for the wondrous things it can do.
For the bright figure of my body at the days beginning.
For its weariness at the days end.

Thank you even for its pain -
If only to sting me into awareness
Or my own existance upon eatrh.
I look upon your creation in amazement
For we are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made.
All its secret, silent machinery - the meshing and churning -
What a miracle of design!
Don't let me hurt it, God.
Or scar it, or spoil it.
Or over indulge or over drive it.
But don't let me coddle it, either God
Let me love my body enough to keep it agile,
And able, and well, and strong.
